Know the decisions that come before a pour
Follow the handoffs from project scope to preparation, placement and return to use.

- 01Scope + approvals
- 02Preparation + checks
- 03Placement + care
Agree on who owns each handoff
- Owner + designer: define the projectIntended use, drawings, approvals and boundaries↓
- Installer + responsible inspector: check readinessPreparation, layout and embedded items before placement↓
- Installer: place, finish and protectAgreed finish, joint plan and curing instructions↓
- Owner: follow return-to-use guidanceKeep written instructions and report concerns to the provider
Roles and inspection requirements depend on the project. Ask who performs each step before scheduling the pour.
Resolve the scope and responsibilities
Agree on the installation boundary, intended loads, finish and any drawings. Establish who confirms approvals and inspections. For structural work, resolve design responsibilities before discussing final installation quantities.
Check the site before placement
Ask who verifies layout, elevations, base preparation and any embedded items. Photograph conditions for your own records and confirm how changes are handled. Never enter an active work area or interfere with equipment to perform your own inspection.
Get the return-to-use instructions
The contractor should explain protection, curing and when the surface can be walked or driven on for the actual project conditions. Ask for written care instructions and the contact for any concern. A universal countdown cannot account for every installation, mix or weather condition.
Your decision checklist
Use these checks while comparing your notes. Selections are not stored or sent.

The project questions and decision aids are editorial planning guidance from Johnstown Concrete. The planner multiplies length by width; it supplies no engineering or installation quote. Official sources support the approval and proposal questions, rather than a design for your site.
